Building fires are unfortunately common and cause significant damage to structural systems including wood, concrete, and steel framing. The effects of fire damage may not be obvious to the untrained eye, but fire can release a number of toxic chemicals into the air. When building materials and furnishings are burned there can be a residual chemical that can cause serious health complications. These chemicals can be dangerous for the building’s occupants. Soot damage can be obvious, but can also settle on surfaces or on contents that may not be obvious. Our assessors have been trained to seek out and document this damage. In addition, the damage to the building can be compounded by the water used to extinguish the fire. Water damage can affect areas of your building that were not affected by the fire and can cause subsequent mold growth. We evaluate the extent of fire damage and determine the need for additional testing.
